UK Government: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

The UK Government, through the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is the current chair of CAWT, taking over this role from the US Government in July 2009.

CAWT provides an opportunity to complement and support wildlife law enforcement activity globally, helping raise political awareness of the effects and impact of illegal wildlife trade at the highest levels, and facilitating international co-operation and broadening understanding of the issues facing producer and consumer countries.
