Forensics for wildlife crime: online presentation

The fascinating use of forensics and DNA analysis for investigating wildlife crime was the subject of a presentation given to Australian Government officers by Dr Rebecca Johnson, an expert in wildlife genomics from the Australian Museum.

The presentation was organised by the Australasian Environmental Law and Enforcement Regulators neTwork (AELERT) and hosted by the Australian Government Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.  
 
Established in 2004, AELERT is a network of environmental regulatory agencies in the Australasian region. AELERT plays an important role in securing a sustainable Australasia through the advancement of best-practice environmental regulation. Its aim is to build relationships between jurisdictions in order to facilitate the sharing of information and improve the regulatory compliance capacity of member agencies. The network has an interest in a range of environmental regulatory issues, including wildlife trade and wildlife crime.
